Frequently asked questions
Where are my screenshots stored?
Original screenshots stay in your device photo library. VisiKeep does not permanently store original screenshot files in VisiKeep cloud.
Do my images leave my phone?
Originals stay in Photos. For Smart visual analysis, a compressed image may be sent to Google Gemini for analysis. VisiKeep does not store that image as an original screenshot archive. Google’s own retention follows Gemini API terms and project configuration.
How does organizing work?
Organize scans selected screenshots, runs on-device OCR for search, and can apply Quick local categories or Smart AI analysis depending on the mode you choose.
What’s the difference between Quick and Smart?
Quick uses on-device OCR and local categorization. Smart can use AI (and optional image understanding) to produce richer titles, tags, and summaries, subject to your plan and AI settings.
How does Smart Analyze use AI?
When enabled, Smart Analyze may send available OCR/context and a compressed image to Google Gemini to generate analysis metadata. Full OCR text is stored on-device for local search; after account deletion, that on-device VisiKeep data is cleared on the deleting device. Photos originals are not deleted.
How do collections work?
Collections group screenshots you choose or that match rules. Some membership and Smart metadata may sync with your signed-in account; originals still live in Photos.
